Day Two - Grand Tetons

Just as I suspected, I am much too tired from the day's activities to devote the time to the description the Grand Tetons deserve. It's just as well, because there are not enough words to convey the jaw-dropping, overwhelming magnificence of this place. Even the photos can't do justice to it. It is simply too spectacular to capture within a camera's viewfinder frame. The eyes just can't get enough, as one after another breathtaking vista comes into view.

For those of you who haven't been here, start making your plans now!

Here is a lightning account of our activities today:

- Cereal at the house, entered Grand Teton Natl Park (a $25 pass gets you into Grand Teton and Yellowstone for a week), saw several Moose, saw HUGE mountains which we could not get enough of (multiple peaks over 12,000 feet, with Grand Teton Mtn dominating at 13,770 feet)

- Visited Jenny Lake where Brin dipped his feet in the ice cold water (Jenny Lake is a jewel-like crystalline green lake that is backed up by the Teton range - it looks like something you would expect to see in the Austrian Alps - Jenny Lake is the most beautiful place we have visited so far)

- Had a bison quesadilla at Dornan's (where the Day Two photo showing the three of us was taken)

- Stopped and took photos at an overlook of the Snake River

- Exited the park, had dinner at Snake River Brewing Co. in Jackson

- Soaked in the hot tub back at the cabin (many of the spruces in the village we overlook are decorated with white lights - a beautiful view from the deck), collapsed exhausted into bed at about 11:30 local time.

As full as this day was, it was only planned as a quick tour to get an idea of what Grand Teton has to offer. We'll be going back later in the week for some hiking and other activities.

Be sure and view the links to our photos down the right side of this page. The albums have been named by day to coincide with our posts.

I'm not saying "I told you so" (but I did!)
Though words can hardly express the beauty and grandeur, you are doing a great job with your blog and you are right, no camera can capture the panorama but keep trying. You will enjoy reading your words and seeing your pictures for years to come.
